Keeping Our Promises To The Rescues

Proper nutrition is the foundation to keeping our rescues healthy, happy and sound at Peaceful Acres Horses

Peaceful Acres Horses' rescued horses, minis, mules and donkeys are thriving at the sanctuary because of the generosity of our dedicated volunteer caregiver team and the generosity of our loyal contributors. We serve as a home - safe - loving home to 72 rescued equines who had once been the victims of animal cruelty or at risk of being sent to slaughter in Canada or Mexico.

These precious equines have come to know only compassion that is poured out to them by all of our wonderful volunteers, they know unconditional love, and that is one of our top priorities at PAH. The other top priority is making sure that none of our rescues go without the nutritious meals and the supplements that they require to physically thrive.

Many of our rescues came to PAH in an emaciated - starved condition. Their bodies were weak and often the emaciation led to prolonged metabolic conditions and lingering behavioral conditions regarding food. Consistency in quality and quantity of hay, grain and supplements are important to the health and wellness of our equine residents.

At Peaceful Acres Horses we do not sacrifice the quality of the hay and grain we feed because of cost, and over the years, these costs have risen greatly. What was once the $10 bag of grain is now a $26 dollar bag of grain. Sure, we could cut back, use a lesser quality of feed, but that is not what it means to be an equine sanctuary with excellence of care at our core.

So, this is where you come into the excellence of care at the sanctuary. Peaceful Acres Horses' Feed Fund Campaign for the Autumn and Winter of 2024/25 is underway, and our goal is to keep our feed room fully stocked with needed grain and supplements and the tractor trailer loads of hay rolling into the sanctuary monthly.

Your one-time or monthly contribution will help Peaceful Acres Horses to purchase the needed hay and grain to get us through the long - cold winter months when the quantity of feed that is required increases.

Did you know that in the cold winter months equines are able to maintain warmth through the digestion process. Nutrient rich hay fed throughout the day and night help to keep them warm, reduce ulcers and colic episodes. At PAH we use hay nets to reduce waist and allow for slow feeding, that aids in digestion and reduces boredom and emotional fatigue.

Will you please help us to keep our promises to the rescued horses, minis, mules and donkeys who call Peaceful Acres Horses their home- safe - loving home? Here are some ways you can support: become a Feed Partner for only $42 per month, or a Feed Sponsor to an individual equine of your choice for only $260 per month, you can sponsor a month of grain and supplements for $1500, or a tractor trailer load of hay for $5800.
